Asthma

These searches supports practices in identifying asthma-related QOF work that can be actioned either during the year or as part of a structured year-end review. The searches are grouped to help you track invitations, incomplete reviews, missed opportunities, and patients who may need Personalised Care Adjustment (PCA) coding.

๐Ÿ” [AST007] One invitation sent

Lists patients who have had one asthma review invitation recorded. Sending a second invite will enable QOF exclusion from AST007 if the patient does not attend.

๐Ÿ” [AST007] Two invitations sent

Patients who have had two asthma review invitations but did not attend. These patients are now eligible for QOF exclusion under AST007 if no further action is taken.

๐Ÿ” [AST012] One invitation sent

Lists patients invited once for an asthma control test within 3 months of diagnosis (AST012). Sending a second invite within 3 months of diagnosis will allow exclusion from AST012 if the patient does not attend.

๐Ÿ” [AST012] Two invitations sent

Patients who have had two invitations for the asthma control test within 3 months of diagnosis but have not responded. These patients are now eligible for QOF exclusion under AST012.

๐Ÿงพ AST007 | Asthma with incomplete review

Patients who attended an asthma review but have incomplete or insufficient coding to meet QOF requirements for AST007. Often due to missing data entry. These may be resolvable through retrospective coding.

๐Ÿงพ DISENGAGED | Asthmatics who didn't have a review last year

Asthma patients with no recorded annual review during the previous QOF year. These patients may be disengaged or at higher risk and are suitable for proactive contact.

๐Ÿงพ DQ | Asthma with incomplete review

Asthma patients who have had part of an asthma review coded in the QOF year but does not include all of the following: a review, a recording of the number of exacerbations, a written personalised asthma plan.

๐Ÿงพ  HIGH RISK | Asthmatics who didn't have a review last year who are high risk

Asthma patients who didn't have a review last year and are high risk due to exacerbations, steroid use, or high SABA use.

๐Ÿงพ NOT ACHIEVED | AST012 New diagnosis without objective tests

Patients with a newly recorded asthma diagnosis and no objective diagnostic test (e.g. FeNO, spirometry, bronchial challenge test) recorded within 3 months of diagnosis. These patients are still within 3 months of diagnosis, so completing testing and data entry will still count towards achievement.

๐Ÿงพ NOT ACHIEVED | AST012 Time Expired diagnosis without objective tests

Asthma patients whose diagnosis was recorded more than 3 months ago, but objective testing was not completed in time. Although the indicator can no longer be achieved, it may still be appropriate to retrospectively code testing or evidence for clinical completeness and audit.

๐Ÿงพ PCA CHECK | Reason for no asthma check last year

Patients who did not have an asthma review last QOF year, and may have had a Personalised Care Adjustment (PCA) applied (e.g. informed dissent, patient unsuitable). Useful to check if the same adjustment applies this year or if a review can now be completed.
