015C Childhood Catch-Up Campaigns

015C Childhood Catch-Up Campaigns

Info
This folder was originally named 'Opportunities for catch up' in 015 Childhood Vaccinations
With the introduction of 015A Childhood Vaccination Recall, some of the searches originally found in Opportunities for catch up were retired as they were effectively duplicated.

015C Catch-up campaigns is a new folder currently comprising 3 folders for vaccination campaigns where general practice is involved in the identification and/or vaccination of individuals who never had or never completed certain vaccinations.

HPV Catch Up

While HPV is primarily administered in the schools vaccination programme, GP surgeries may give it as catch-up. Females can have the HPV course from the age of 12 (in school year 8) until their 25th birthday. Eligibility to receive the vaccine in year 8 was extended to boys from September 2019. The catchup programme for males under the age of 25 is only for those born after 01/09/2006.
Info
These searches are designed for the adolescent programme, and do not extend to MSM and other high risk groups.

HPV course not started
Eligible patients between 16 and 24 who have not got an HPV vaccination code recorded on their record.

HPV course incomplete
Prior to July 2023 a full course was defined by the age the patient received the first dose. Where the first dose was administered before the patient's 15th birthday, a full course was two doses. Patients starting the course after their 15th birthday were scheduled to receive three doses. Since July 2023 the advice was revised to a single dose, but this report has been preserved to review patients who may have received an HPV vaccination many years ago.
Idea
This search could be adapted for use in identifying incomplete courses in the high risk groups.

HPV course complete
Patients who have completed an HPV course according to the schedule at the time of completion.

HPV declined
Patients whose most recent code relating to HPV vaccinations is a declined code. This may be patients who have never been vaccinated, or patients who started a vaccination course but subsequently declined.

HPV contraindicated
Patients whose most recent code relating to HPV vaccinations is a contraindicated code. This may be patients who have never been vaccinated, or patients who started a vaccination course but were subsequently coded as contraindicated.
Alert
HPV allergy codes are not taken into account.

MenACWY Catch Up

MenACWY is another schools programme campaign, so these searches identify patients aged 16 to 24 who have not previously received a MenACWY vaccination.

Eligible for Men ACWY
While Men ACWY is primarily administered in the schools vaccination programme, GP surgeries may give it as catch-up and opportunistic offering to young adults going to higher education.

Men ACWY previously declined
Patients whose most recent code relating to Men ACWY vaccinations is a declined code. This may be patients who have never been vaccinated, or patients who started a vaccination course but subsequently declined.

Men ACWY previously contraindicated
Patients whose most recent code relating to Men ACWY vaccinations is a contraindicated code. This may be patients who have never been vaccinated, or patients who started a vaccination course but were subsequently coded as contraindicated.
Alert
Men ACWY allergy codes are not taken into account.

MMR National Immunisation Catch Up

A national MMR vaccination campaign runs to improve uptake for patients under the age of 25.
Info
These MMR searches are more dependent on coding quality than other Catch Up vaccinations. Patients who had a vaccination recorded in another clinical system (SystmOne or Vision) may have received a vaccination but the codes are not recognised by EMIS as an MMR vaccination.
Vaccinations coded in SystmOne may appear as degraded in the Care History, so the coding must be fixed in order for a patient to be removed from the search. Vaccinations recorded in Vision will appear as three separate Measles, Mumps, Rubella codes which the searches will treat as 3 single injections.

CV-003) Eligible for MMR (1st or 2nd dose)
Identifies children between 1 and 18 years for immediate invitation who have received 1 or no doses of MMR vaccine since their 1st birthday. This search ignores patients under 40 months who have received their first dose, and those who received a dose in the previous 28 days. Doses of measles-containing vaccine given prior to 12 months are disregarded in line with Public Health England guidance.

MMR previously declined
Patients whose most recent code relating to MMR vaccinations is a declined code. This may be patients who have never been vaccinated, or patients who started a vaccination course but subsequently declined.

MMR recently received invitations
Children aged between 12 months and 5 years (inclusive) who have been invited for an MMR vaccination in the past 3 months but there have been no subsequent vaccinations.

MMR Routine Follow up
Young patients who haven't yet received MMR vaccinations for their age, but are not yet significantly overdue. There are two groups within the search.
  1. Children aged 12-23 months without an MMR vaccination (for children aged 2 or over see the Catch Up campaign search)
  2. Children aged 40-47 months who have received their first dose but not their second dose
Info
These patients will also be picked up by searches in 015A.

MMR Catch Up Campaign
These searches and reports identify patients between the age of 2 and 25 who do not have a completed coded course of MMR. Use the reports to review any coded dose of MMR or single strain vaccinations.
Breakdowns of smaller age ranges have been provided to assist in breaking up the volume into manageable sizes.

MMR Catch Up Opportunity
Two separate age groups of patients who do not have a complete course of 2 coded MMR vaccinations. Patients aged 26-39 would have been offered MMR as babies in the UK, while patients in their 40s (particularly those born before 1984) are unlikely to have been offered MMR as children and may have partial coverage of measles or mumps containing vaccines unless MMR vaccination has been required for occupational purposes.
Use the reports to review any coded dose of MMR or single strain vaccinations.

Alert
Searches to highlight allergies to previous doses or contraindications have not been produced
