The Insomnia searches are designed to identify patients who have been prescribed a Z drug (Zopiclone or Zolpidem) in the last 3 months to help monitor prescribing safely.

The Insomnia folder forms part of 022 Meds Management
The search contains different thresholds for prescriptions based on the patient's age. These drugs have addictive properties, and should be prescribed for short periods of time.
- In patients aged 18-64, those who have received at least one prescription in the last 3 months that followed by another prescription between 3 months and 4 weeks beforehand. This is to capture those who are likely to be receiving the drug on repeat
- In patients aged 65 and older, any single prescription in the last 3 months.
The report simply lists the number of issues in the last 6 months, showing information such as when the drug was started, its current status (eg: active or past), prescription type (eg: acute or repeat), and whether the drug has been problem linking to any diagnosis.
