CAN 04: FIT Monitoring Searches
Purpose:
We have developed a set of searches to help user monitor the FIT results as part of the suspected colorectal cancer management.
What does it look like?
Searches

It is up to the practice to decide how often these searches are run i.e. weekly as a safety net to ensure that patients are followed up quickly if they have failed to comply with the time critical aspect of colorectal fit testing.
Search IIF - CAN 04c) Lower GI 2WW referral WITH NO FIT results identifies patients who have been referred under 2ww but there was no FIT results preceding the referral. These patients will not be included in the CAN04 numerator.
Search - CAN04) Cancer FIT test given with no results in the last 6 month identifies patients who were given a FIT test kit but there is no results.
Search IIF - CAN04) Cancer FIT test arranged but KIT not given last 6 month identifies patients where a clinician has recorded that they have requested a qFIT test, but the there is not record of a patient collecting a test kit or having a result.
System Dependencies:
The use of these searches is helped by the user making use of the PCIT Suspected Colorectal Cancer templates to record activity leading up to and after the referral.
Your team need to discuss and be clear about how you are consistently recording the provision of FIT tests within the clinical system, so this alert and the supporting information helps to support you.
