AF Detector 2 (HP004)

AF Detector 2 (HP004)

Type: Protocol Alert

Purpose

To improve the diagnosis of atrial fibrillation by making sure that irregular pulses are followed up

What does it actually do?

The protocol performs the following functions:
  1. On loading the patient record the system is queried to see if an irregular pulse has been entered without a subsequent ECG
  2. If it has, the user will see an alert highlighting the irregular pulse
  3. When the user hovers over the alert further information is shown, including the codes (and date of these) that have lead to the alert being shown
  4. The user can double click on the alert to load a template and code the required information

What does it look like?

This is the alert that is shown:

When the user hovers over this, this kind of information is shown:

When the user double clicks the alert they are taken to this template to record further details:

Update to AF Detector - Irregular Pulse and no ECG Alert

We've updated our HP004 AF detector to enhance the user experience today

🔍 What does it do?

HP004 checks patients to see if they have had an irregular pulse coded that hasn't been followed up with an ECG.  If this is the case it alerts the user to prompt action

Why?
It's really important to follow up patients with irregular pulses to ensure that Atrial Fibrillation is ruled out - a major cause of stroke if it goes undiagnosed.

What changes have we made?
We've added the ability to record an ECG outcome if you double click on the alert.  We've also added the ability to code the diagnosis of Atrial Fibrillation directly from the template.  We've also made minor changes to the look and feel of the template to make it more user friendly.
