Inappropriately Coded Problems (HP019)
Purpose:
This protocol will:
- ensure that teams within your practice don't make their problem lists untidy by flagging codes that are inappropriate to use as a problem title. This will ensure consistency of coding of problems by making sure that certain codes are not recorded as problems.
What does it actually do?
The protocol performs the following functions:
- On any code being entered into the record, it validates if this is ok to be added as a problem
- If it isn't the user is alerted to consider their decision
What does it look like?
System Dependencies:
This protocol is dependent on accurate coded information within EMIS web, contemporaneously recording information
System Trigger
System Trigger: Save Consultation
Run mode: Always run
Enable trigger for: All staff
Fitting your practice
This may be a useful practice to discuss at a practice meeting to raise awareness and agree a list of codes that it is agreed will not be used. It is sensible to add any codes that you come across over time so that the list continues to expand.
