This protocol will:
- highlight to clinicians where prophylaxis against gout hasn't been prescribed when starting urate lowering therapy.
What does it actually do?
The protocol performs the following functions:
- On adding urate lowering therapy will offer prescription of NSAID to prevent acute attacks during titration
- If the patient needs a PPI prescribing as well this will be offered

Alert your team that if they don't prescribe prophylaxis when starting urate lowering therapy that they will be nudged to do so by the protocol.
