What does it actually do?
The protocol performs the following functions:
- Checks to see the patient has had a reason for a bone sparing agent not to be used added
- Identifies patients who have all of the following characteristics:
- had 3 or more courses of steroids in the last 12 months
- not on any bone sparing oral agents
has not had a bone sparing infusion

The use of this protocol depends on practices using the clinical system to record all issues of steroid medication (including OOH/A&E etc so there is accurate data in the system)
