Consider Palliative Care Radar (HP102)

Type: Protocol Alert

Purpose

Where a patient has codes that suggest that they may have palliative care needs, this protocol alert will make the clinician consider if they should enroll them on the palliative care register. The user can update the details by double clicking on the protocol alert.

 

What does it actually do?

The protocol performs the following functions:
  1. On loading the patient record the system is queried for a wide range of codes that may suggest a patient has palliative needs
  2. If the patient isn't on the palliative care register, the user will see an alert
  3. When the user hovers over the alert further information is shown, including the diagnosis or codes that have lead to the alert being shown
  4. The user can double click on the alert to load a template and code the required information

This protocol is dependent on accurate coded information within EMIS web, contemporaneously recording cancer and other diagnoses.
