Overview/Purpose

This protocol allows users to issue a rescue pack for COPD taking into account allergies and ensuring appropriate coding of the issue.

What does it do?

  • Checks that the patient has COPD
  • Then checks for allerties and walks the user through the generation and coding of a rescue pack issue

Why is it important?

This protocol allows users to quickly and easily issue a rescue pack as well as code that this is the case - helping to ensure this is accurately recorded so when undertaking audits of antibiotic and steroid prescribing for COPD patients the practice can see how many were issued for exacerbations versus as rescue packs
