Installing protocol alerts

Installing protocol alerts

Make sure you save the file you want to import in a place you can identify easily as you go through this process.

The process is slightly different for this depending on whether your surgery uses template manager or resource publisher:

Template manager:

  1. Click on the EMIS button
  2. Click on configuration
  3. Click on template manager

Resource publisher

  1. Click on the EMIS button
  2. Click on configuration
  3. Click on resource publisher

If you don't have a folder called "Primary Care IT"

Within resource publisher or template manager click "Add" and "folder"

Add folder name of Primary Care IT into this box:

And click save.

Repeat the above steps in concept manager and in library items if you don't already have Primary Care IT folders in these areas.

Importing the protocol alert

Select the folder "Primary Care IT" by clicking on it to highlight it (1) and then click import (2):

Locate the file that you have been sent that contains the protocol alert using the browser and click open.

When you are asked which folders you want to import the concepts and library items to, select the respective Primary Care IT folders.

When this process is complete you should find the protocol alert imported into your system.  Now you need to set the trigger.  Again this is different depending on whether you have resource publisher or template manager:

Template manager

Right hand mouse click on the protocol alert and select properties:

On the properties box that opens, select "Triggers" tab at the top:

You will see the following dialogue box:

Click on "Add" and you will see this box:

For system trigger select "Load patient record"
For run mode select "Always Run"

Set for the job categories you wish and click ok.

Your alert will now be live in your system.

Resource publisher

Right hand mouse click on the protocol you want to set live and select  "Protocol"->"Manage Triggers"

You will see the following dialogue box:

Click on "Add" and you will see this box:

For system trigger select "Load patient record"
For run mode select "Always Run"

Set for the job categories you wish and click ok.

Your alert will now be live in your system.
