Prolactin (OneResults)

Prolactin (OneResults)

We've discussed this with our clinical team today. The guidance we've used for this is the BNF, which for prochlorperazine can be found here: https://www.medicinescomplete.com/#/content/bnf/_923870945?hspl=prochlorperazine#content%2Fbnf%2F_923870945%23pot-monitoringRequirements As you can see from the screenshot below, it advises monitoring of prolactin for all antipsychotic drugs regardless of dose:

Our clinical team are in agreement with you that in routine clinical practice doses of prochlorperazine that are used to treat nausea or vomiting are very unlikely to need or warrant prolactin monitoring - however whilst the BNF advises this, we feel duty bound to adhere to this guidance. We will feed back to the BNF this issue and we'll drop you a line back when we hear any updates and will of course update our tools if the guidance or advice changes.
