Shingles alert still showing but patient has been vaccinated

Shingles alert still showing but patient has been vaccinated

Problem

Users report alert for shingles vaccination remains in red box even after the patient has been vaccinated.

  1. Check if user has used a template to record vaccination (OneTemplate or by double clicking the alert)
  2. Confirm that the correct vaccination code has been used:
    1. Zostavax: Administration of live attenuated Human alphaherpesvirus 3 vaccine [871898007]
    2. Shingrix 1: Administration of first dose of Varicella-zoster vaccine for shingles [1326101000000105]
    3. Shingrix 2: Administration of second dose of Varicella-zoster vaccine for shingles [1326111000000107]

Solution

Alert displayed will belong to EMIS rather than PCIT (all PCIT alerts display Powered by Primary Care IT when the mouse hovers over it).

EMIS alert  v2 was released in April 2024, but it still has a number unhelpful prompts (such as eligibility of immunocompromised patients aged 65 or 70-79, and the minimum interval between doses). The solution is to deactivate the alert which is found in this location:

Right click Shingles (herpes zoster) alert v2, select Status, then Deactivate.

Primary Care IT's HP062 Shingles alert does a similar job without age errors, and identifies more immunocompromised patients based on the Green Book and Enhanced Service criteria.
