Suspected Cancer referral task to secretary

Suspected Cancer referral task to secretary

Type: Protocol

Overview/Purpose

This protocol acts as a safety net to ensure that when a consultation is closed, clinicians have properly safety-netted the patient for their urgent suspected cancer referral.

What does it do?

  1. Generates a task that should be send to the secretaries to process the referral, ensuring no delays.
  2. Automatically prompts the user if they would like to send the patient a message to explain if they haven't heard from the hospital within the 2 weeks of the referral being made to contact the surgery.
  1. Provides an additional layer of safety to ensure suspected cancer cases are not missed in administrative processes.

Why is it important?

This protocol ensures timely and appropriate referrals for suspected cancer patients, supporting patient safety and aligning with the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) indicators. It also assists in meeting Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements for safeguarding patients at risk.

Change management considerations

Fitting your practice
As with all alerts you need to consider the volume of pop ups you currently have in operation: there is a real risk of "alert fatigue" if you have too many. This will differ from practice to practice.

How to get it

This protocol is automatically installed in your system.
