To publish automatically, connect each social account once. Nexus then posts on your behalf when a scheduled item is due.
You can plan and write content without connecting anything — you just publish it manually yourself, or use the Website and Newsletter channels, which need no connection.
Before you start
- You need to be a practice administrator in Nexus.
- You need to be an admin of the social account itself — the Facebook Page, the LinkedIn organisation, or the X account. A personal login that can only view the Page won't work.
- Social publishing must be part of your plan. If the Connected accounts tab says it isn't included, that part hasn't been purchased.
Connecting an account
- Communications → Connected accounts
- Select Connect next to the platform
- Sign in to that platform and approve the permissions it asks for
- You're returned to Nexus and the account appears in the list

Facebook and Instagram are connected together through the same Facebook login, because Instagram business accounts are managed via their linked Page. If your practice has both, connecting once can bring in both.
What we store, and what we don't
We store the access token the platform gives us — the credential that lets us post on your behalf — plus the account name and ID so you can tell accounts apart.
We never see or store your password. The sign-in happens on the platform's own site, not in Nexus.
Access tokens are held separately from everything staff can see: no one in your practice, and no one at Primary Care IT, can read them through the application. They are only used by the publishing process itself.
Account status
Each account shows a status:
- Connected — working normally
- Expired — the platform has ended our access, usually because the token aged out or a password changed. Select Connect again to restore it.
- Revoked — someone disconnected it, here or on the platform
- Error — something went wrong during connection; try connecting again
If publishing fails because a platform has withdrawn access, we set that account to Expired automatically, so a silent failure doesn't go unnoticed. The affected post is marked failed and not retried indefinitely.
Disconnecting
Select Disconnect next to the account. We tell the platform to withdraw the access, delete the stored token, and mark the account revoked.
Scheduled posts aimed at that account will fail rather than publish. If you have content queued, either reconnect or edit those items to target a different channel.
If a connection won't complete
- "Not included in your plan" — social publishing isn't purchased yet
- Returned to Nexus with an error — most often the platform account isn't one you administer, or the permissions weren't granted. Try again and accept all the requested permissions.
- The platform isn't offered yet — each platform requires its own approved application. If a platform's Connect button reports it isn't configured, we haven't finished that platform's registration; it will appear when we have.
