Indicator definition
Indicator ID | Description |
CHD005 | The percentage of patients with coronary heart disease with a record in the preceding 12 months that aspirin, an alternative anti-platelet therapy, or an anti-coagulant is being taken. |

What makes a patient eligible?
Patients are included in CHD005 if they:
- All patients diagnosed with CHD.
- A record within the last 12 months of aspirin, an alternative anti-platelet therapy, an anticoagulant, or OTC salicylates being taken.
What will remove patients from being eligible?
Patients are excluded from CHD005 if they:
- Patients with contraindications to aspirin (persisting or expiring), an alternative anti-platelet therapy (clopidogrel persisting or expiring), an anticoagulant (persisting or expiring), or OTC salicylates.
- Patients for whom CHD quality care was unsuitable in the contract year
- Patients who chose not to receive CHD quality care in the contract year
- Patients not responding to at least two invitations for review within the last 12 months.
- Patients who have been diagnosed with CHD within the last 9 months
- Patients who have been newly registered at the practice within the last 9 months
What must I do to achieve the indicator
To meet the criteria for CHD005, eligible patients must have a recorded prescription of aspirin, an alternative anti-platelet therapy, an anticoagulant, or usage of OTC salicylates within the last 12 months
