Configuring Residential Institute codes in EMIS Web

Configuring Residential Institute codes in EMIS Web

To ensure patients living in care homes attract an uplift to the global sum, they must have a Residential Institute (RI) code added to their registration record.
Historically each area had its own RI codes issued by their local Health Authorities which Practices had to use when registering patients living in care homes. In 2019 PCSE released two codes to standardise the process across the country.
  1. V0 – is to be used for patients who reside in a care residential home
  2. Y0 – is to be used for students who are attending a school or university
The above RI codes are a letter followed by the number zero.

EMIS appears to have automatically added the national RI codes to all systems but if local RI codes need amending or adding, users with an appropriate RBAC codes can configure them from the following steps:
  1. Click on the EMIS bubble
  2. Select Workflow Manager
  3. Click on the Config icon on the Workflow Manager ribbon
  4. Under Organisation Options on the left hand side, scroll down to Trading partners
  5. Identify your registration partner(s) - these have a 'type' of GP Links - then highlight and press Edit
  6. Select Residential Institute Codes from the left hand side
  7. Use the options to Add, Edit, or Delete Residential Institute codes
  8. Press OK, then OK again to save the changes
  9. Other users may have to launch a fresh copy of EMIS Web to see the changes
