Indicator ID | Description |
CS005 | The percentage of women eligible for screening and aged 25-49 years at the end of the reporting period whose notes record that an adequate cervical screening test has been performed in the preceding 3 years and 6 months. |
What do the business rules mean?
What makes a patient eligible?
Patients are eligible for the CS005 denominator if:
- their sex recorded on the clinical system is female
- they are aged between 25 and 49 years at the end of the contract year (ie: not yet 50 years old before next 1st April)
- they have not got a cervix (ie: the patient has undergone a total hysterectomy)
How achieve the indicator
Eligible women must have had an adequate cervical screening result coded within the 3 years and 6 months leading up to the end of the reporting period.
What will remove patients from eligibility?
- Patients for whom cervical screening is deemed unsuitable due to medical reasons documented within the timeframe
- Patients who have declined cervical screening within the specified timeframe
- Patients who have not responded to 3 invitations
If a patient achieves the
indicator at any point during the year, any exclusions that have also been
added are ignored.
