Imported results are not showing on OneResults
Occasionally clinical staff report that most recent results they can see on EMIS are not being displayed on OneResults, which may be suggesting that bloods are overdue.
Why does this happen?
In nearly all circumstances where customers have raised this query to Primary Care IT, the original lab report was manually downloaded. A tell-tale sign is that the tests appear in grey italics, and have a UC hyperlink to the right of the numeric result.
Occasionally where new types of test have been introduced (eg: quantitative immunochemical test or CKD-epi) there may be a period of delay where either the lab or EMIS does not have the coding in place to automatically match the result.
Not all downloaded results will have this problem - in some areas using ICE, we know that manually downloaded results are just as well coded as the original results sent by the lab. Individual labs are responsible for how result interchange messages are coded.
What does it affect?
Not just OneResults! Protocols may also report 'old' data as the latest.
In theory QOF could be affected if a result such as HbA1c or lipids are not recognised, and some searches used by CQC look for recent blood tests.
How can it be fixed?

Managing codes on lab reports for instructions on how to fix the problem. Matching codes will only have an effect on the report being fixed as well as any similar results downloaded for any patient in the future.
If this is a common issue, consider discussing with neighbouring Practices to find out if they have similar problems. Consider raising it as a clinical safety issue with your ICB or CSU who may be able to liaise with the local lab to improve the way reports are sent.
