Indicator definition
Indicator ID | Description |
MH001 | The contractor establishes and maintains a register of patients with schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder and other psychoses and other patients on lithium therapy. |
What are the criteria for this indicator?
In order to be included in MH001, patients must:
- have a diagnosis of psychosis, schizophrenia or bipolar affective disorder [MH1]
or
- have been issued lithium in the past 6 months without subsequently having been coded as stopped (ie: the patient is still on lithium) [MH2]
Patients cannot be removed from the Mental Health register if they recover. They can be marked as 'in remission' using some specific codes which will remove them from being eligible for the indicators.
The only time it may be appropriate to delete codes to remove a patient from the register is when they relate to an incorrect diagnosis (replace with free text explaining why).
