Time Limited Cancer Care Review Needed (HP097)

Time Limited Cancer Care Review Needed (HP097)

Purpose:
This protocol will:
  1. ensure that users are informed of the need for a patient to have:
    1. Provision of information of cancer support services available in Primary Care in the 3 months after diagnosis
    2. A cancer care review in the 12 months after diagnosis
Info
These requirements were previously needed for QOF but this was removed in the contract year 2025/26.  When needed for QOF this was a base handy protocol.  PCIT have moved this to being an optional handy protocol, as the above actions still represent best practice but are no longer needed for QOF

What does it actually do?

The protocol performs the following functions:
  1. When a new diagnosis of cancer is added it checks to see if there has been provision of information about cancer support services available in Primary Care and a Cancer care review.
  2. If these have not been conducted the user is prompted that these need to occur
  3. A diary date for the appropriate time frames is added automatically to the record
  4. The user is then given options to either:
    1. Book an appointment
    2. Send a task
    3. Take no action
