Your first sign-in to Nexus
Setting your password
How you get your password depends on how you joined:
- Organisation sign-ups and access requests — once approved (usually 1–2 working days), you receive an email with a link to set your password.
- Invited team members — you set your password when accepting the invite.
- Free NHS data access — you chose your password at sign-up; just confirm the email link first.
Then sign in with your email and password from the Existing user option on the home page.
Two-factor authentication (organisation accounts)
Accounts on the paid GP platform must set up two-factor authentication (2FA) on first sign-in — an extra security step required because the platform handles clinical tooling:
- After signing in you're shown a QR code. Scan it with an authenticator app on your phone (e.g. Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or any TOTP app). You can also enter the secret manually.
- Enter the 6-digit code the app shows to verify, and you're in.
On later sign-ins you'll be asked for a current 6-digit code from your app (codes change every 30 seconds). You enter a 2FA code on every new sign-in (when you type your password again). Refreshing a tab that already completed 2FA does not ask again. There is no option to skip two-factor authentication on a trusted device.
Free NHS data access accounts don't require 2FA — they only touch published, aggregate data.
Your first few minutes
- You land on Home. Down the left are your practice's setup progress, anything waiting on you, and things you have not tried yet. In the centre, Live Nexus work shows what Nexus has done for your practice in the last seven days — invitations sent per campaign, how many patients opened them and clicked through to book, appointments booked into the clinics it offered, and anything an automation has left for a clinician to decide. It only appears once something has run. What's new sits on the right, and quick links into the app run along the bottom. The Nexus logo brings you back to Home from anywhere.
- The Getting started tour starts automatically — a two-minute walk through your menus, dashboards and settings. You can open it again any time from the Guides (
?) menu. - Switch between light and dark mode with the theme toggle in the header.
- If you're the organisation admin, your next stops are setting up your practice and inviting your team.
