Insight Credits explained
AI Insights is metered in Insight Credits: each question consumes credits according to how much analysis the AI performs. This keeps the pricing fair — light use costs little, heavy analytical use pays its way.
Your balance
Your organisation's balance is shown as a chip at the top of the AI Insights page (e.g. "*120 credits*"). Every member of the organisation draws from the same balance.
Roughly what questions cost:
- Quick mode: ~2–8 credits
- Standard mode: ~10–30 credits
- Deep mode: ~50–150 credits
The exact cost depends on how much work the answer took; it's deducted after the answer completes.
Buying credits (admins)
Organisation admins can top up:
- Press Buy credits on the AI Insights page (it also opens automatically if you run out mid-question — "*Top up to continue*").
- Choose a credit pack.
- Complete payment through Stripe's secure checkout.
Credits are added to the organisation balance immediately after payment. Members who aren't admins see a prompt to ask their admin to top up.
Monthly budget cap (admins)
To keep spend predictable, an admin can set a monthly cap on credit consumption from the budget panel on the AI Insights page. The page shows month-to-date usage against the cap; when the cap is reached, further questions are declined until the new month (or the cap is raised). The cap is enforced server-side, so it genuinely can't be exceeded.
If a question is declined
- "Top up to continue" — the balance is empty; an admin needs to buy a pack.
- Budget reached — the monthly cap has been hit; an admin can raise or clear it.
- Subscription inactive — the organisation's subscription needs attention; see Managing your subscription and invoices.
