A trial code is a voucher from Primary Care IT that gives your practice a free trial of the platform without entering any payment details.
Using a trial code
Trial codes are entered during registration, on the final step of the Register your GP surgery wizard:
- Complete your details and select your surgery as normal.
- On the plan step, enter the code in the Trial code field. It's validated immediately against your selected practice.
- A valid code shows the trial length that will be applied — for example "*90-day free trial will be applied — no payment needed to start*" — and the final button changes to Complete sign-up (no card step).
Notes:
- Codes are single-use per organisation and may be tied to your practice.
- The code's own trial length replaces the standard trial.
- Even without a code, every new organisation can choose the standard free 90-day trial — no card details needed.
When the trial ends
Near the end of the trial, an admin should add a payment method from Practice → Billing (the Subscribe now button starts secure Stripe checkout). If a trial lapses with no card attached, access is paused: members see a notice asking an administrator to sort billing, and admins are taken to the Billing page to add a payment method — everything reactivates as soon as payment is set up.
