004B Routine QOF work

004B Routine QOF work

The 004B Routine QOF work search folder is located within population reporting under the 004 GP Contracts Pro folder. The 004 Routine QOF work folder is divided into 11 main folders (see below), as well as a denominator folder (z Denominators) where our supporting searches are held (which do not need to be accessed).
Warning
The searches have been built to look at the contract year (1st April to 31st March), so it is recommended to run the search WITHOUT a relative run date.
Throughout this article PCA is mentioned, this stands for Personalised Care Adjustment and with regards to QOF, has replaced the term ‘exception reporting’. A PCA is when a patient is not included in a QOF target because they have declined a review/drug or a review/drug is not indicated, etc. By coding a PCA, it will reduce the number of patients eligible for the QOF target (decreasing the denominator), making it easier to meet the QOF target.  For more information about PCAs see our separate support article.

The denominator searches found within this folder will not align to the QOF reporting searches found in 004A. The final rules of any indicator are typically two or more invitations; recent diagnosis; recent registration. This approach mirrors the convention of clinical system QOF alerts which the business rules explicitly state must ignore any final exception rules. These three rules have been removed in the searches to maximise the number of patients who can be highlighted for attention. The reports have been designed to show users where 2 invitations have been sent this year.
Users may find it helpful to export the results into Excel, so reports have been designed to support users in extracting enough useful information. The use of sorting and filters in Excel may be beneficial if splitting the workload up by usual GP, stratifying blood pressure or HbA1c results, identifying groups of patients with previous PCAs, or ignoring patients who have already been invited twice this year.
