Dashboards → Local data → Childhood immunisations shows every child under 5 registered at your practice against the QOF childhood vaccination schedule — who has had each vaccination, whose is due or overdue, whether an appointment is already booked, and a one-pass way to send booking invites to the parents of the children who need one.
What it tracks
Six milestones, matching the QOF childhood immunisation indicators:
- 6-in-1 (DTaP/IPV/Hib/HepB) doses 1–3 — from 8 weeks old, all three doses by 8 months (VI001)
- MMR dose 1 — from the first birthday, by 18 months (VI002)
- 4-in-1 pre-school booster and MMR dose 2 — from 3 years 4 months, by the fifth birthday (VI003)
For each child and milestone you see when the window opens and closes (calculated from the child's date of birth, and from the previous dose where a minimum gap applies), the date given when it's done, and a status:
- done — recorded as given (a *late* marker shows when it was given after the QOF deadline — the vaccination still counts clinically);
- due now (amber) — the window is open, nothing recorded yet;
- overdue (red) — the QOF deadline has passed with nothing recorded. The child stays on the list until their fifth birthday, because catch-up vaccination is still clinically indicated — the QOF deadline passing does not close the clinical need;
- from … — not yet due (too young, or waiting on the minimum gap after the previous dose);
- contraindicated — a contraindication code is recorded; these children are counted separately and never appear in the recall list.
Booked appointments
Each row shows the child's next booked appointment (date, time and who with), and whether it falls inside the vaccination window. One honesty note: the appointment feed doesn't say what an appointment is *for*, so "booked" means *any* upcoming appointment — treat it as "the family is coming in anyway", not proof a vaccination is scheduled.
Sending booking invites in bulk
Tick the children who need a vaccination (all are selected by default; the filter chips — Due now, Overdue, No appointment — narrow the batch), then Send booking invites. This uses the standard secure-message flow: parents receive a content-free notification, confirm the child's date of birth, surname and postcode, and book from there. Opt-outs, sending limits and quiet hours are enforced automatically, and cross-practice cohorts fall back to a CSV of links for your own messaging channel.
The automatic welcome message for new registrations
Optionally, your practice can switch on a welcome message for newly registered under-5s: within about a day of a child's registration appearing in your clinical data, the parents receive a secure link that shows the child's personalised vaccination schedule — each milestone with its dates and status — plus NHS information about the vaccinations themselves.
- It is off by default and enabled per practice by the Nexus team once your practice has confirmed it wants it (ask via support).
- The notification itself carries no clinical detail; the schedule only appears after the identity check.
- One welcome per child; sends respect opt-outs, contact limits and quiet hours, and need an email address on the child's record (usually the parent's).
Clinical sign-off of the schedule windows
The window dates are held as governed clinical reference data. Until a clinician signs them off in-app (and 6-monthly thereafter), the dashboard shows an amber banner — the worklist still works, but the banner is your prompt to verify the windows against the QOF business rules and the Green Book.
Because it reads clinical data, this dashboard is available only to users registered to your organisation, and every patient-level view is recorded in the clinical access audit.
Availability
Childhood immunisations is part of the Governance & Compliance package (a paid, practice-level add-on — the free tier is unaffected and permanent). It also requires your practice's clinical data feed, the same one behind the local QOF dashboards. Your organisation admin can review packages under Account & billing.
